Sara Grotenfelt is a choreographer, performance-maker and performer based in Helsinki, Finland. She holds a master's degree in choreography from the Theatre Academy of Helsinki (Teak) and a bachelor's degree equivalent from The Danish National School of Performing Arts, Copenhagen, Denmark.

In her artistic practise Sara investigates the movement and placement of emotion and affect in the choreographic event. She is interested in translation as an artistic method as well as the entanglement of intuition and analysis. Her works flirt with the established meanings of objects and gestures and play with the relationship between sincerity and irony.

Sara's choreographic work has been shown at e.g. Zodiak Stage (Helsinki),
Taidehalli (Helsinki) and Stockholm Fringe Festival. Sara has performed in works by WAUHAUS (FI), Eleanor Bauer (US), Frédéric Gies (FR) and Blaue Frau (FI) amongst others. Currently she is working on a solo work that will be shown at the Stage for Contemporary Performance at the Helsinki City Theatre.

Sara also runs the dance school Tanssivintti with three colleagues and works as a teacher and mentor for the students.
